Basic Designs and Colors in Medieval Style Monk's Robes

In the medieval period, which refers to the 5th and 15th centuries, there are some monks who spread religion. These men contribute all their lives and to religious beliefs. Though monk clothes are in simple design, there are still some basic designs and colors in their robes.

Due to the religious believes, monks should be dress, eat, think as simple as possible, A monk's outfit, or habit, consisted of a wool tunic belted at the waist, an outer tunic with an apron called a scapular and a hood. Each monk was allowed two tunics and two hoods so that he could have something to wear when one outfit was in the wash.

Colors for medieval monks’ robes are not similar to the ones we familiar in nowadays. At the very beginning, monks wore in white and gray. Later, they wore in a more brown colors than the white or brighter ones.
These are some basic designs and colors that applied into monks’ robes during the medieval period. Whenever you go to the medieval style parties, you can dress as a monk with above styles.
