The medieval style clothing is unique because it is representative for its certain and special patterns. For example, there are tunics, overtunics, dresses, shirts, vests and pants. They are not quiet familiar with the clothes we now wear and see. But in this article, I would like to focus on the another type of clothes in the medieval style: the capes.

Medieval period was a period that men and women share clothes in the same pattern which meant not only the men wore capes women also wore them. They are designed mainly for avoiding the bad weather like windy or snowy. But in nowadays clothing world, some people may think about the medieval cape just for adding extra glamour to his or her costumes. Besides, the patterns and colors that applied into medieval capes has gone through a big changes. In the medieval period, capes were just in the simple design with black or ivory colors. But in modern clothing world, capes are becoming more colorful and various through adding certain patterns like the prints, trimmings, etc.
Though the capes have gone through an enormous change, the most representative ones are what I posted above. I hope you would have a general idea about the medieval capes.
